coming soon……our experimental new video for ‘hot’ new act DECLAN & THE ANTICS!!!

DECLAN & THE ANTICS’ disco pop tune using 80s stylings, BORN FOR THE NIGHTLIFE called for a clip which showcased declan and boys’ high energy, cheekiness, and addictive sense of fun.

so….we shot the video with an infrared camera that is otherwise usually used for diagnostic/scientific/engineering purposes. the camera doesn’t register light - it only detects heat - and set in its technicolour mode registers a given image it ‘sees’ as a range of colours reflective of the various temperatures perceived. it was a brainful to plan and understand, but cinematographer warwick field made a meal of it and the results are spectacular!

we had a ball experimenting on declan with a range of heated and cooled ‘toys’, and then filming a massive pool / dance party in all of its vibrantly-coloured delight.

the finished clip will be onscreen soon….stay tuned…!

OUR NEW POWDERFINGER MUSIC VIDEO!!

we have recently finished creating a music video for powderfinger’s sensational new song BURN YOUR NAME and couldn’t be happier!

natasha directed an extremely skeletal crew of cinematographer warwick field, art director kris growcott and production co-ordinator jang jiraporn on the ground in chiang mai, thailand. it was a blast. quite literally…!

the song BURN YOUR NAME speaks of a man’s desire to express an intense feeling of love by burning the name of his loved one across the sky.  natasha’s visual interpretation the song’s story involved setting its video during the magical loy krathong lantern festival in thailand. the festival features thousands of revelers lighting and releasing large rice paper lanterns (“khom loy”) which, when lit, float elegantly up to the sky. the festival then progresses to the crowds setting off their own fireworks in every direction, all through the night. the event is truly romantic and explosive in equal parts!

the shoot presented several hefty production challenges…the variables of a frenetic festival, cultural and language differences to negotiate, co-ordinating the safe dodging and weaving of a mobile crew and 5-man rock band through a dense crowd among a constancy of airborne, sparkling projectiles….our ‘set’ was somewhere between a party and a battlezone. and the experience was more fun than words can describe.

check out a behind-the-scenes look at the production:

we are so very proud of this video which really captures the joy of this beautiful celebration, and the universality of the feeling of love.

we are off to thailand…..with powderfinger!!!

the starkravers are on the way to thailand with the boys from powderfinger to shoot a music video for their rockin new single, BURN YOUR NAME.

the video will be set in chiang mai at the yi peng lantern festival (as part of the loy krathong festival), where everyone in the city lights and launches large rice paper lanterns, setting them afloat up to the sky. it is a truly wondrous sight. i felt this would make for the perfect gesture and setting to tell the song’s story about a man declaring his love to the world.

coming to your screen soon………

natasha  :)
